Welcome to Plummer's Sugar House! We are third generation sugarmakers and have been making maple syrup for the past 30 years.
We start tapping our trees the middle of February and it takes about 1 week to put in our 4,000 taps.
Anytime from mid-February on, or as soon as the days warm up to 40 degrees and the nights freeze up again, the sap will run from the trees into a holding tank.
It then begins the process of being boiled and made into delicious maple syrup.
If you are ever in our small town of Grafton, Vermont please come by and visit us!
Our gift shop is open 7 days a week and a free tour of our sugar house is yours with any purchase.
We will explain the process of collecting sap from the maple trees, how it is boiled, filtered and then finally canned.
If you are lucky enough to be in Grafton during sugar season (mid-February through mid-April) you might even see the actual boiling of the sap into syrup and get a sample taste of the delicious hot product, fresh from the trees!
